One of our favorite hikes for visitors in Vermont is Mt. Philo. Nestled about 35 mins east of Burlington, this mountain has amazing views of both Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains in New York.
But what’s best about Mt Philo is that you can get those views three different ways, you can hike through the woods (a sometimes steep hike but short, ~1 mile), you can drive up the mountain (there is an access road) or you can walk up the mountain on the access road (less steep and paved) so really this view works for any age group.
Don’t think that the view is the only thing you can do at Mt Philo. While the view is amazing, there are a bunch of different activities you can do while there — a ton of picnic tables are scattered around for a lunch with a view as well as Adirondack chairs to lounge and read. Want to have an event here? You have that option too! With a pavilion and/or a lodge to rent, this mountain has availability for birth parties and even weddings! Looking to camp? There are options for that too! Including camp and lean-to sites. More information can be found here: Mt Philo
